Mapping Your Career: ARHU Exploration Workshop

College of Arts and Humanities Thursday, November 21, 2024 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Virtual,

Figuring out your career path can be confusing, especially for Arts and Humanities majors who gain numerous transferable skills and competencies that are in demand in a wide array of industries. You may wonder what is the best career for you? This workshop will help you identify themes and connections between your academic, professional, and life experiences and then discuss how they might guide your time at UMD and beyond.

 In this session, we will:

1. Create a “Wandering Map” (from You Majored in What?, by Kate Brooks) which is a way of visually (graphically) thinking about your interests, strengths, skills, achievements and values. This is a physical tool that you will get to keep.

2. Analyze patterns/themes and discover meaningful connections between past experiences.

3. Discuss and reflect as a group and share suggestions for further exploration.

4. Learn about additional career center resources related to career exploration.

This workshop will be conducted on Zoom. Contact Caroline Bodnar, Career Advisor, UCC @ ARHU, at cbodnar@umd.edu.
